JAGO - Crafting
A 7 Days to Die mod by AMG5TAG. Version 1.0.1 for game version 3.4; installs on the server and client. Category: Crafting.
A Research Bench for crafting books, magazines and schematics, an Advanced Forge, a Rain Well, door lockpicking, hundreds of creative-only props made craftable, ammo recycling, pinned recipes and a party book tracker.
Description
Lots of 7 Days to Die's best-looking props sit in creative mode where survival players can't reach them, and the books, magazines and schematics you need depend entirely on loot luck. JAGO - Crafting opens both up. A Research Bench turns the duplicate books and magazines you scrap into Research Data, which you can spend on the exact skill magazine, book or schematic you're after. Lucky Looter ranks gate it, so it never replaces looting.
For builders, more than a thousand vanilla decor blocks become craftable through variant blocks: one recipe opens a picker for 174 single doors, 235 tent pieces, 118 shop signs and more. You also get lockable storage disguised as freezers, gun racks, stoves and wine barrels, camping tents that work as respawn points, wireable decorative lights and an Armour Mannequin. Later in the game you can build a six-slot Advanced Forge and a Rain Well that fills itself when it rains, and a lockpick now gets you through locked POI doors.
It also makes crafting easier to read and track. A Stats tab shows a recipe's item stats before you craft it, every recipe says which station it's made in, you can pin up to five recipes to the HUD, and in multiplayer each book and magazine shows whether you and your party have read it, including party members who are offline.
Features
- Research Bench: a new workstation (Workbench, 180 s: 25 Scrap Iron, 5 Mechanical Parts, 100 Paper, 10 Wood) that unlocks at Workstations level 25. Books, magazines and schematics scrap into Research Data instead of Paper.
- Research Bench recipes: 23 skill magazines (Lucky Looter rank 3), 19 skill books (rank 4) and about 55 schematics (rank 5), each costing Paper and Research Data, with a Legendary Part for schematics. Any book, magazine or schematic from vanilla or another mod that has no recipe gets one automatically at the same cost and rank.
- Advanced Forge: a large 3x3x3 forge with six smelting slots instead of three. It smelts at normal forge speed, uses half the fuel, and forge recipes cost 20% less in it. Built at the workbench from a Forge, 25 Forged Steel, 15 Mechanical Parts, 100 Cobblestones and 20 Leather. Learned at Workstations level 60, above the Chemistry Station.
- Rain Well: free water with no jars or fuel. It fills every empty slot when rain starts in the pine forest and refills while it keeps raining. The dew collector mods fit (Gatherer, Tarp, Filter). Unlocked by the Rain Well Schematic, found in loot, sold by traders or made at the Research Bench.
- Door lockpicking: press E on a locked POI door while carrying a lockpick to pick it, using vanilla's timer, break chance and Lock Picking perk. Player-locked doors and trader doors can't be picked.
- Crafting Stats tab showing up to 7 of an item's stats before you craft it, and a "Crafted In" line on every recipe naming its station.
- Pinned recipes: pin up to 5 recipes. The HUD tracker lists each one with its ingredients and have/need counts, pinned recipes sit at the top of the crafting list, and pins are saved on your own PC.
- Party read tracker: the read icon on books, magazines and schematics turns green (you and every online party member have read it), yellow (you have, someone hasn't) or red (you haven't). Tooltips list each party member's progress, with offline members greyed out showing their last saved progress. Progress is saved in the world save every 30 seconds.
- Armour Mannequin: 4-slot storage that only takes armour and dresses itself while it holds some.
- Lockable storage props: freezers, gun racks, stoves, gas pump, washer, desks, file cabinets and wine barrels with Iron box capacity, plus a small Pet Cage and Reptile Terrarium. The vanilla POI versions and their loot are unchanged.
- Camping tents as respawn points: 12 tents that work like bedrolls and can be picked up.
- Powered lights: 18 wireable versions of decorative ceiling, pendant and street lights.
- Spiked Traffic Cone that does the same damage as wooden spikes.
- Variant blocks: doors, posters, shop and notice signs, tents, fences, barbed wire, server racks, gravestones, control panels, restaurant booths, vertical blinds and more.
- Craftable furniture and decor: candles and lanterns, TVs, bookcases, desks, vending machines, pool tables, gym equipment, playground pieces, mannequins, barriers and four church bells.
- New recipes for vanilla items: Mechanical Parts, Springs, weapon and tool part kits, Armor Parts, six legendary armour attribute mods, 13 canned foods, Mega Crush, 10 dyes and Murky Water from snowballs.
- Ammo recycling: 10 rounds of 9mm, .44, 7.62mm or shotgun ammo break down at the workbench into an Ammo Parts pack that returns 80% of the ingredients.
- Master Chef goes to rank 5, with ranks 4 and 5 unlocking basic and premium canning.
- Bigger storage and queue: Wood box 10x6, Iron 10x8, Steel 10x10. The crafting queue grows from 4 to 12 slots, and the loot window holds up to 150 slots so large boxes and backpacks display correctly.
- Quality-tier colours (based on PaLoALo's Colored Item Backgrounds), reordered so each tier is easy to tell apart, plus durability-coloured item previews.
Compatibility
- Before removing this mod, pick up every Advanced Forge. The base game can't load a saved six-slot forge.
- Built to sit alongside AGF HUDPlus: its crafting-queue layout loads last on purpose.
- Replaces the controller of the HUD recipe tracker to show pinned recipes. A HUD mod that rewrites that window would conflict (AGF HUDPlus 6.6.2 doesn't touch it).
- Includes its own version of PaLoALo's Colored Item Backgrounds. Don't install the original as well.
- Crafted storage props are separate blocks from the vanilla POI versions, so they can't be used to farm POI loot.
- Craft-from-storage counts from JAGO - Push Pull show in the pinned recipe tracker, as they do in vanilla's tracker.
- Translations: English, German and Spanish, with partial text in ten more languages. The newest strings are English only.
Requirements
- Contains a DLL, so EasyAntiCheat must be off.
- No Gears settings and no other mods needed.
- Install on the server and on every player's game, all on the same version. The mod adds network messages, a custom workstation model and UI changes that must match on both sides. After updating, each player needs to restart their game fully.
- Unzip into your Mods folder and keep the folder name exactly as shipped (ZZ-AMG5TAG-JAGO-Crafting). The ZZ- prefix makes it load late, which its UI changes rely on.
- Works on its own. Every JAGO mod is independent, so install as many or as few as you like.
Installation
Step 1: Install JAGO - Crafting on the server and on every player's game, all on the same version. In single player, install it on your own game.
Step 2: Download the zip and unzip it into the game's Mods folder, so you end up with Mods/ZZ-AMG5TAG-JAGO-Crafting/ModInfo.xml. For the game that is the Mods folder in the install folder (in Steam: right-click 7 Days to Die > Manage > Browse local files; create Mods if it isn't there). For a dedicated server it is the Mods folder next to the server executable.
Step 3: Keep the folder name ZZ-AMG5TAG-JAGO-Crafting exactly as it is: the ZZ- prefix sets the load order. Don't put it inside another folder.
Step 4: This mod contains a DLL, so EasyAntiCheat must be off: start the game without EAC (untick EasyAntiCheat in the launcher), and on a dedicated server set EACEnabled to false in serverconfig.xml.
Step 5: Start (or restart) the server and the game. To update, delete the old folder and unzip the new version the same way on the server and every player's game at the same time.
Changelog
JAGO - Crafting: changelog
==========================
1.0.1 (29 Oct 2026)
- Fifty items and blocks that reused vanilla icons now have their own: ammo parts carry a gear badge, powered lights a lightning bolt, storage versions of gun racks, wine barrels, pet cages and terrariums a crate badge, building-variant helpers a puzzle-piece badge, the armour stands a shield or vest badge, the Advanced Forge a star and the spike cone a blade. Their old colour tints are removed, since the badges now tell them apart. Sources and licences are listed in ICON-CREDITS.txt.
1.0.0 (27 Oct 2026)
- First public release.
Development history
-------------------
Before its public release this mod was developed and run privately, with its own version numbers (the last was 3.11.0). Those notes are kept below for reference; none of those versions were released to the public.
JAGO - Crafting - Changelog
3.11.0 (26 Oct 2026)
- Book and magazine tooltips now also list party members who are offline. They appear greyed out below the online members, with their last saved progress, e.g. "Name (offline) : 3 / 5".
- Your game remembers who it has seen in your party, in a small file kept next to your pinned recipes. Offline members show once you have been online together in a party at least once after updating. Anyone you later see online but outside your party is dropped from the list.
- The green/yellow/red corner colour on the book icon still counts online party members only.
3.10.7 (26 Oct 2026)
- Fix: party book and magazine read progress is now saved on the server every 30 seconds whenever it changes. Before, it was only written at a clean shutdown, so a server that was killed or crashed never saved it.
- Fix: pinned recipes are now saved safely. The list is written to a temporary file and swapped in in one step, so a crash or kill mid-save can no longer leave a half-written pin list.
3.10.6 (25 Oct 2026)
- The Research Bench description now explains how its recipes unlock: Lucky Looter rank 3 for skill magazines, rank 4 for skill books and rank 5 for schematics (English, German and Spanish).
3.10.5 (25 Oct 2026)
- The Advanced Forge now has to be learned. It unlocks at Workstations crafting level 60, one step above the Chemistry Station (50), and shows in the Workstations skill list with its unlock level. Before, anyone could build it from the start.
3.10.4 (17 Oct 2026)
- The decorative toaster has been removed from the Appliances variant block, so it can no longer be crafted. The working Toaster from JAGO - Farming is unchanged.
3.10.3 (17 Oct 2026)
- Fix: items could be duplicated or lost in steel storage boxes, and their bottom row couldn't be seen. This mod makes steel boxes 100 slots, but the loot window only had room for 90. It now has room for 150 and still sizes itself to each container, so smaller boxes look the same as before.
- The same fix covers death backpacks and dropped bags (120 slots) and other large storage that went past 90 slots.
- Every player needs this version, since the loot window runs on each player's game.
3.10.2 (16 Oct 2026)
- The vanilla Classic Dog House can no longer be crafted and has been removed from the player build menu. Dog houses already placed or found in POIs are unchanged.
3.10.1 (16 Oct 2026)
- The Research Bench now appears in the Workstations crafting skill with its unlock level (25), like the vanilla workstations. The unlock level itself has not changed.
3.10.0 (16 Oct 2026)
- Lockpicks now work on locked POI doors. Press E to open a locked door while carrying a lockpick and the normal lockpicking timer starts, with vanilla's numbers: 15 seconds and a 75% chance per pick to break. The Lock Picking perk and held-item bonuses apply.
- A broken pick uses up one lockpick, but your progress is kept, so the next attempt carries on where you stopped.
- The server checks the door again before unlocking it, and it then shows as unlocked for everyone.
- Doors locked by players and trader doors can't be picked.
3.9.0 (16 Oct 2026)
- New Rain Well: a stone well that collects rainwater with no jars or fuel. When rain starts in the forest (pine forest biome) it fills every empty slot at once, and it refills emptied slots while the rain keeps up.
- The dew collector mods fit it: Gatherer halves the refill time, Tarp gives 2 jars per slot and Filter gives boiled water.
- Recipe (workbench, 300 s): 100 Cobblestones, 20 Short Iron Pipes, 20 Forged Iron, 5 Mechanical Parts, 50 Wood.
- Unlocked by the new Rain Well Schematic, found in loot, sold by traders, or crafted at the Research Bench (100 Paper, 40 Research Data).
3.8.2 (16 Oct 2026)
- Forge recipes now cost 20% less when crafted in the Advanced Forge. The normal forge still charges full price.
3.8.1 (16 Oct 2026)
- The Advanced Forge now smelts at normal forge speed (it was twice as fast) and uses half as much fuel.
3.8.0 (16 Oct 2026)
- New Advanced Forge: a large 3x3x3 forge with six smelting slots instead of three. It takes the same tools, fuel and recipes as the vanilla forge.
- Built at the workbench (600 s) from a Forge, 25 Forged Steel, 15 Mechanical Parts, 100 Cobblestones and 20 Leather.
- Important: pick up every Advanced Forge before you ever remove this mod. The base game can't load a saved six-slot forge.
- The server and every client need this version.
