JAGO - Farming
A 7 Days to Die mod by AMG5TAG. Version 1.0.1 for game version 3.4; installs on the server and client. Category: Crafting.
Unknown Seeds, a Seed Germinator and Hydroponic Planter, one-press E harvesting with a grass sweep that grows with Living off the Land, and a full Australian pantry of crops, foods, drinks and witchetty grubs.
Description
JAGO - Farming reworks how you get seeds and grow food, and adds a full Australian pantry on top. Seeds you find are now Unknown Seeds, and they are rare. Plant one and see what comes up, or run three through a Seed Germinator to choose the crop. Later, a fuelled Hydroponic Planter turns seeds straight into produce with no field to tend.
Harvesting is quicker too. Press E on a ripe crop, wild mushroom or harvestable plant and the mod runs the game's own harvest: perk bonuses, harvest XP and quest and challenge credit all count, and the block is removed. Put more points into Living off the Land and one press on grass clears a patch around you for plant fibre, up to 12x12 at rank 5, where it also picks up wild crops.
The "Aussie Tucker" half adds 12 plantable bush and farm crops, 13 cooking ingredients and 40 foods and drinks, from damper and Vegemite toast to meat pies, lamingtons, pavlova and a cold lager. There's also a no-fuel Toaster and a witchetty grub foraging line. The recipes unlock through the vanilla Cooking and Seeds skills, and many come with their own short buffs.
Features
- Unknown Seeds: every seed drop becomes an Unknown Seed. Planted, it grows one short stage and then turns into a random crop seedling: one of 11 vanilla crops, pumpkin, an Oak, Pine or Blue Spruce sapling, or one of the 13 Aussie crops. Seed loot gives 1 Unknown Seed.
- Rare seeds: harvesting your own ripe crops or wild mushrooms gives an Unknown Seed 5% of the time, the farmer's outfit bonus seed drops half the time, and felled trees (wild or planted) drop their seeds 10% of the time. Breaking an unripe seedling still returns its seed, and POI hydroponic plants give 10-25 Unknown Seeds.
- Seed Germinator: a fuelled 2x2 workstation that turns 3 Unknown Seeds into 1 seed of your choice: all 13 vanilla crops including Grace Corn, Oak and Pine seeds, the 12 Aussie crops and the Witchetty Grub Seedling. Unlocks at Seeds level 8.
- Hydroponic Planter: a fuelled workstation that grows produce from one seed: 1-3 vanilla produce in 120-360 s, or 2 Aussie produce in 8 s. Unlocks at Seeds level 15.
- E-to-harvest: ripe crops (wild and planted), dead corn, wild mushrooms and all Aussie and grub crops are harvested with one press of E, with your held tool's bonuses, harvest XP and quest credit. Land claims are respected.
- Grass sweep: pressing E on grass, flowers, small bushes or wild shrubs harvests an area around you that grows with Living off the Land: 3x3 at rank 2, 6x6 at rank 3, 9x9 at rank 4 and 12x12 at rank 5. At rank 5 it also takes wild crops, but never crops a player planted.
- Living off the Land goes to rank 5 (Homesteader and Master Farmer).
- 12 Aussie crops: Wheat, Sugarcane, Ginger Root, Bush Tomato, Finger Lime, Kakadu Plum, Murnong, Warrigal Greens, Muntries, Desert Lime, Bush Banana and Peas, plus Macadamia Nuts and Quandong from loot and traders.
- 13 ingredients: Flour, Sugar, Butter, Vegemite, Milk, Chocolate, Coconut, Oats, Brewers Yeast, Wattleseed, Saltbush, Pepperberry and Lemon Myrtle. Flour, Sugar, Oats, Milk and Butter are made from farmed wheat and sugarcane, Vegemite from yeast and honey, shrubs have a chance to drop Wattleseed and Saltbush, and Chocolate, Coconut and Yeast also come from zombie loot bags.
- 40 Aussie foods and drinks unlocked across 8 Cooking levels, including Damper, Fairy Bread, Sausage Sizzle, Meat Pie, Chiko Roll, Anzac Biscuit, Lamington, Tim Tam, Pavlova, Milo, Bundaberg Ginger Beer and Aussie Lager.
- Food buffs such as Vegemite Boost, Milo Energy, Lean & Mean and Celebration (stamina regen), Bush Medicine (health regen) and Settled Stomach (cold resistance).
- Toaster: a no-fuel workstation with 8 toast recipes, from Vegemite on Toast to the Jaffle. Unlocks at Workstations level 10.
- Witchetty grubs: raw grubs drop from harvesting bushes, shrubs, grass, cacti, pines and mushrooms, with cooked dishes from Cooking level 2 up to the Radiated Witchetty Grub. There's also a plantable grub seedling and a decorative grub nest.
- Loot and traders: Aussie ingredients and foods turn up in food loot, and traders stock the Aussie foods, drinks, ingredients, crops, seeds and grubs.
- English, German and Spanish text.
Settings
No Gears settings. The grass sweep can be tuned with block properties in Config/blocks.xml:
- JAGOFarmingRadiusPerk: the perk that drives the sweep. Default perkLivingOffTheLand.
- JAGOFarmingSizeSteps: the sweep size (N x N) for perk ranks 0-5. Default 0,0,3,6,9,12.
- JAGOFarmingWildLevel: the rank at which the sweep also harvests wild crops. Default 5.
- Any block can be added to E-harvest by giving it CanPickup plus a JAGOFarming property of crop or grass.
Compatibility
- Other pickup-harvest mods (such as PickupPlants) change the same game code, so expect conflicts.
- Mods that change vanilla seed drops, seed recipes, the seed loot groups or Living off the Land will overlap with this one.
- Vanilla backpack seed recipes for the 13 crops are removed. Specific seeds now come from the Germinator.
- With JAGO - Loot installed, Aussie foods and ingredients also turn up in its searchable furniture and appliances. With JAGO - Challenges installed, a Made in Oz tab adds Aussie Kitchen, Bush Tucker and Native Garden challenges.
- The JAGO - Vehicles Drone Farmhand uses this mod's harvest when both are installed.
Requirements
- Contains a DLL, so EasyAntiCheat must be off.
- No Gears or other mods needed.
- Install on the server and on every player's game. The new blocks, items and recipes have to match on both sides, and the harvest code runs on both.
- Unzip into your Mods folder and keep the folder name exactly as shipped (ZZ-AMG5TAG-JAGO-Farming). The ZZ- prefix makes it load late, after the mods it adjusts.
- Works on its own. Every JAGO mod is independent, so install as many or as few as you like.
Installation
Step 1: Install JAGO - Farming on the server and on every player's game, all on the same version. In single player, install it on your own game.
Step 2: Download the zip and unzip it into the game's Mods folder, so you end up with Mods/ZZ-AMG5TAG-JAGO-Farming/ModInfo.xml. For the game that is the Mods folder in the install folder (in Steam: right-click 7 Days to Die > Manage > Browse local files; create Mods if it isn't there). For a dedicated server it is the Mods folder next to the server executable.
Step 3: Keep the folder name ZZ-AMG5TAG-JAGO-Farming exactly as it is: the ZZ- prefix sets the load order. Don't put it inside another folder.
Step 4: This mod contains a DLL, so EasyAntiCheat must be off: start the game without EAC (untick EasyAntiCheat in the launcher), and on a dedicated server set EACEnabled to false in serverconfig.xml.
Step 5: Start (or restart) the server and the game. To update, delete the old folder and unzip the new version the same way on the server and every player's game at the same time.
Changelog
JAGO - Farming: changelog
=========================
1.0.1 (29 Oct 2026)
- Eleven crops now have their own icons instead of borrowing vanilla ones: wheat and sugarcane no longer show as corn, ginger, peas and murnong no longer show as potatoes, macadamia no longer shows as honey, and finger lime, Kakadu plum, warrigal greens, muntries and quandong no longer show as blueberries. The icons are made from freely licensed photos and illustrations; sources, authors and licences are listed in ICON-CREDITS.txt.
- The seed germinator, hydroponic planter, toaster and every planted crop now have their own icons instead of borrowing vanilla ones: planted crops show the crop with a sprout badge (witchetty grub beds show the grub nest), the germinator a sprout, the planter a water drop and the toaster a slice of toast. Badge credits are in ICON-CREDITS.txt.
1.0.0 (27 Oct 2026)
- First public release.
Development history
-------------------
Before its public release this mod was developed and run privately, with its own version numbers (the last was 3.3.7). Those notes are kept below for reference; none of those versions were released to the public.
JAGO - Farming - Changelog
3.3.7 (26 Oct 2026)
- Fix: at Living off the Land rank 5 the grass sweep also harvested ripe crops that players had planted, so pressing E on grass next to a farm could clear a neighbour's or partner's crops. The sweep now only takes wild crops. Pressing E directly on a planted crop still harvests it as before.
- Fix: the server now checks that a plant is still there before harvesting it, so a repeated or delayed harvest request can't harvest the same plant twice.
3.3.6 (23 Oct 2026)
- Planted trees now drop seeds at the same 10% chance as wild trees, whether fully grown or still growing. Chopping down a sapling no longer always gives its seed back.
3.3.5 (22 Oct 2026)
- Seeds are rarer:
- Felled trees drop their seeds 10% of the time (was every time).
- Harvesting your own ripe crops, and wild mushrooms, gives an Unknown Seed 5% of the time (was 10%).
- The farmer's outfit bonus seed now drops 50% of the time (was every time).
- Seed loot gives 1 Unknown Seed per roll (was 1-3).
- A planted tree chopped while still growing gave back exactly the seed it was planted from (changed again in 3.3.6).
- Unchanged: POI hydroponic plants still give 10-25 Unknown Seeds, and breaking an unripe seedling still returns its seed.
3.3.4 (18 Oct 2026)
- Tall dead corn can now be harvested with E, like other crops.
3.3.3 (16 Oct 2026)
- Fix: 25 edible items now play the eating animation instead of the "carrying a parcel" pose. That covers the 13 ingredients (oats, flour, sugar, butter, Vegemite, milk and so on) and 12 bush crops such as Kakadu plum, finger lime and macadamia.
3.3.2 (16 Oct 2026)
- The grass sweep now includes the common wild shrubs (green, dead and snowy shrub). They give wood plus their usual bonus drops, such as witchetty grubs and wattleseed. Trees, cacti, stumps and POI hedges are still left alone, and land claims are still respected.
