JAGO - Mining
A 7 Days to Die mod by AMG5TAG. Version 1.0.0 for game version 3.4; installs on the server and client. Category: Gameplay.
A Geologist perk for extra ore from surface rocks, Power Hit to dig through several blocks at once, tunnel dwellers that can burst out of the ore you break, and a third forge slot.
Description
JAGO - Mining adds four things to the mining game.
Geologist, a new 5-rank perk under General Perks, lets you pull clay, sand, coal, iron, nitrate, lead, oil shale and the odd silver, gold or diamond out of the surface rocks you already smash on the way to a POI. The extra loot costs a bit more stamina and tool wear. Ore veins keep their vanilla base yields, so the perk adds to mining rather than replacing it.
At Geologist 4 you also get Power Hit: now and then a swing at ore carries on through the rock and hits the next five blocks ahead as well.
Dangerous Mining makes the tunnels less safe. Every iron, coal or lead ore block you break has a small chance to wake a tunnel dweller, such as a crawler, spider, mutated or burnt zombie, or a zombie dog, which spawns right next to you. Deep ores (nitrate and oil deposits) wake their feral cousins instead. The chances are low, but you'll want a weapon ready while you mine.
Finally, the forge gets a third smelting slot, so you can keep three materials melting at once.
Features
- Geologist perk (General Perks, 5 ranks costing 1/1/2/2/3 points, needing Strength 2/4/6/8/10):
- Rank 1 (Basic Harvesting): Surface Rock gives Clay and Crushed Sand; ore veins (iron, coal, lead, nitrate) give Clay and Sand.
- Rank 2 (Iron Age): Surface Rock gives Coal and Scrap Iron; iron, lead and nitrate ore give Coal; coal ore gives Scrap Iron.
- Rank 3 (Advanced Metals): Surface Rock gives Potassium Nitrate and Scrap Lead.
- Rank 4 (Oil Prospector): oil deposits and shale boulders give Oil Shale (plus Clay and Sand from deposits) with rare Silver, Gold and Raw Diamond; +15% to vanilla ore and rock harvest yield; unlocks Power Hit.
- Rank 5 (Master of Stone): rare Silver, Gold and Diamond chances on Surface Rock and every ore vein, bonus primary ore from veins, a small Raw Diamond chance from plain Stone, and +30% vanilla ore yield.
- Costs: +5% rising to +20% stamina use and tool wear by rank 5.
- Power Hit (Geologist 4 and up): hitting an ore block with a mining tool (pickaxe, auger, shovel and other tools that Miner 69'er boosts) has a 5% chance to land the same hit on the next 5 blocks straight ahead in the direction you are facing. Each extra block gets its normal drops, perk bonuses and XP. Only natural terrain (stone, ore, dirt) is hit, never placed blocks, and land claims and trader areas are protected as usual. A stone-burst particle and sound play, and a "Power Hit!" tooltip appears.
- Dangerous Mining:
- Iron, coal or lead ore: 0.8% chance per block (default) to spawn an aggressive tunnel dweller 1 to 5 blocks away: Steve Crawler, Spider, Boe, Mutated, Burnt, Janitor or Zombie Dog.
- Potassium nitrate ore or oil deposits: 1.5% chance per block (default) to spawn one from the deep pool: feral Steve Crawler, feral Spider, feral Mutated, feral Burnt, feral Chuck, Radiated Spider or Zombie Dog.
- Third forge smelting slot: the forge input window has 3 numbered input rows, and the material panel is stretched to match.
- Vanilla base drop counts are left untouched.
- English, German and Spanish text.
Settings
- Gears (World settings, category Mining):
- Common Ore Spawn Chance: chance per 1,000 that breaking iron, lead or coal ore wakes a tunnel dweller. Default 8 (0.8%), range 0 to 100.
- Deep Ore Spawn Chance: chance per 1,000 that breaking nitrate or oil-deposit ore wakes a feral tunnel dweller. Default 15 (1.5%), range 0 to 100.
- Without Gears these defaults are used.
- JAGO-Mining.xml in the mod folder (Power Hit, read when the game starts; give every player the same file):
- enabled: default true.
- chance: default 0.05 (5%), range 0 to 1.
- blocks: blocks hit ahead, default 5, range 1 to 16.
- min_level: Geologist rank needed, default 4, range 0 to 5.
- particle and sound: defaults blockdestroy_stone and stonedestroy (the vanilla stone-break effects). Any particle or sound name from the game works, and "none" turns that part off.
Compatibility
- The forge UI change conflicts with other mods that resize the forge input window (for example the standalone AGF SmeltingPlus), so don't run both.
- Any other mod that adds a destroy event to the same ore blocks will conflict.
- There is no depth check: ore broken anywhere can wake a tunnel dweller. Ore is normally underground, so in practice it happens while mining.
- Shale boulders get Geologist drops but no tunnel dwellers.
Requirements
- This mod includes a DLL, so EasyAntiCheat must be off.
- Gears (Mod Settings Manager) is optional, for the spawn-chance sliders.
- Install on the server and on every client. Power Hit runs on each player's own game, so every player needs the DLL and the same JAGO-Mining.xml.
- Unzip into your Mods folder and keep the folder name as shipped (ZZ-AMG5TAG-JAGO-Mining): the ZZ- prefix sets the load order.
- Each JAGO mod is independent and works standalone.
Installation
Step 1: Install JAGO - Mining on the server and on every player's game, all on the same version. In single player, install it on your own game.
Step 2: Download the zip and unzip it into the game's Mods folder, so you end up with Mods/ZZ-AMG5TAG-JAGO-Mining/ModInfo.xml. For the game that is the Mods folder in the install folder (in Steam: right-click 7 Days to Die > Manage > Browse local files; create Mods if it isn't there). For a dedicated server it is the Mods folder next to the server executable.
Step 3: Keep the folder name ZZ-AMG5TAG-JAGO-Mining exactly as it is: the ZZ- prefix sets the load order. Don't put it inside another folder.
Step 4: This mod contains a DLL, so EasyAntiCheat must be off: start the game without EAC (untick EasyAntiCheat in the launcher), and on a dedicated server set EACEnabled to false in serverconfig.xml.
Step 5: Optional: install Gears (Mod Settings Manager) to change the settings in game. Without it the defaults are used.
Step 6: Start (or restart) the server and the game. To update, delete the old folder and unzip the new version the same way on the server and every player's game at the same time.
