JAGO - Push Pull
A 7 Days to Die mod by AMG5TAG. Version 1.0.1 for game version 3.4; installs on the server and client. Category: Utilities.
Push, Pull and Dump buttons and hotkeys sort your loot into nearby storage, and crafting, repairing and refuelling can use what's in your chests. Includes sorting labels, forge feeding and collectors.
Description
Tired of running from chest to chest to put your loot away? Push Pull adds three buttons to your backpack header, plus hotkeys. Push sends your loot into nearby storage that already holds the same items. Pull tops your stacks back up from that storage. Dump empties your backpack into any box you have labelled "Dump".
Your storage also counts when you craft. Crafting, repairing, upgrading, refuelling and buying from traders can all use materials sitting in nearby chests, vehicles and drones, so you no longer need to carry a stack of forged iron to the workbench. Your quality tools, weapons and armour are never moved or used up as materials, locked backpack slots are never touched, and quest items always stay with you.
The server carries out every move, so storage another player has open is left alone and nothing is lost or duplicated. Every setting is commented in one XML file, and with Gears installed you can change most of them in game.
Features
- Push (button, default hotkey Left Alt+X): moves items from your unlocked backpack slots into nearby containers that already hold that item. Existing stacks are topped up first, then free slots in those same boxes. An empty container gets nothing until you put one of the item in by hand. Quality items (tools, weapons, armour) are never pushed.
- Pull (button, default hotkey Left Alt+Z): tops up the stacks you already carry from nearby containers.
- Dump (button, no hotkey by default): moves everything in your unlocked backpack slots into nearby boxes whose text is "Dump". Boxes with other text, and all vehicles, are never dumped into. Locked slots in the box are never filled.
- Sorting labels: write what a box is for on any writable storage box, such as "Ammo, Medical" or "Forged Iron", and Push and Dump send matching items there, even into an empty box. Categories include Ammo, Medical, Food, Drinks, Seeds, Resources, Weapons, Guns, Tools, Armour, Mods, Books, Magazines, Schematics and Blocks, and any exact item or block name works too. The full list is in SortingLabels.txt.
- Push to forges: Push also feeds smeltables (scrap iron, brass, lead, sand, clay, glass and more) into the input of nearby forges, but only what that forge accepts. With a stack mod such as JAGO - Stacks, forge slots fill past the vanilla stack size.
- Dedicated forges: hold a smeltable on your toolbelt, look at a forge, hold E and choose Dedicate forge to held material. Push then sends that material to that forge first, split over its first two input slots, with the third kept for clay. Looking at the forge shows what it is set to, and Clear forge dedication removes it.
- Even sharing: each smeltable is shared equally between every forge that can take it and every nearby container that already holds it, so all your forges smelt at once.
- Collectors: Pull empties dew collectors, chicken coops and apiaries (water, eggs, feathers, chickens, honey), and Push fills their input slots (empty jars, chicken feed, flowers). Mods, filters and the coop's chickens are never touched, and collectors in another player's land claim are skipped.
- Vehicles and drones: their storage counts for Push, Pull and crafting, within a shorter range (default 4 blocks). Locked vehicles and other players' locked drones are skipped.
- Craft from containers: crafting, repairing, upgrading, refuelling and trader purchases can use plain resources from nearby storage. The recipe list and the craft-count spinner include storage stock, so you can queue several crafts. Weapons reload only from your backpack and toolbelt unless you turn on Reload from containers.
- Refuel from containers: the vehicle Add Fuel option works when the fuel is in a nearby chest rather than on you.
- Storage in use: the server tells every player which chests, vehicles and drones someone else has open, and Push, Pull, Dump and crafting leave those out.
- Quest items stay with you: Push and Dump never move quest items, and quest items in storage never count for crafting or fetch quests.
- Stray quest items: a quest item whose quest isn't in your journal can be dropped (menu, drop key or drag out of the window) so its owner can pick it up again. If your current fetch quest has none of its item yet, a stray stack of the same supplies in your inventory is claimed for your quest.
- Console commands: rpp (or reloadpushpull) reloads the config without a restart, and rpp scan lists nearby storage and why any of it is skipped. strayquest (or sq) lists the quest items you carry, and strayquest remove deletes the stray ones.
- On-screen feedback such as "Pushed to 3 containers and 1 vehicle", with a click sound. Each can be turned off.
Settings
All settings are in PushPullConfig.xml in the mod folder, and every option is commented there. Most are also in Gears under Esc > Mods > JAGO - Push Pull, in the Hotkeys, Ranges, Crafting, Containers and Feedback tabs. Gears settings are per player.
- Push / Pull hotkeys: default Left Alt+X and Left Alt+Z (1 to 3 keys). In Gears: a modifier (None, Shift, Ctrl, Alt) and a key. Dump hotkey: none by default (XML only).
- Dump label: the box text that marks a Dump box. Default "Dump" (XML only).
- Push/Pull range: default 20 blocks (Gears 1 to 64).
- Vehicle range: default 4 blocks (Gears 1 to 32).
- Push to empty slots: let Push overflow into free slots of boxes that already hold the item. Default On.
- Push new items to vehicles: let Push send item types a vehicle doesn't already hold. Default Off.
- Push to forges: default On (XML only). Forge items: the list of items Push sends to forges (XML only).
- Craft from containers: default On. Craft range: default 32 blocks (8 to 128).
- Refuel from containers: default On. Max refuel pull: the most fuel one refuel may take, default 0 = no cap (Gears 0 to 5,000).
- Reload from containers: default Off.
- Include vehicles: default On. Include collectors: default On.
- Player storage only: only use storage flagged as player storage, so POI crates are never touched. Default On.
- Allow locked containers: also use locked containers you aren't on the allow list for. Default Off. The server's value decides.
- Cache seconds: how long a storage scan is reused. Default 1.0 (0.25 to 10).
- Cooldown: minimum seconds between presses. Default 0.35 (0 to 3).
- Show message, Play sound: default On. Log craft pulls (debug logging): default Off.
Compatibility
- Runs on a plain vanilla install. Checked with AGF HUDPlus, AGF BackpackPlus, QuickStack and Gears; none of them are required.
- CraftFromContainers (aedenthorn): running both would count every ingredient twice. Push Pull detects it and turns off its own crafting half, leaving Push, Pull and Dump working. Use only one of the two.
- Custom container blocks from other mods should work. Run rpp scan if one is being skipped.
- Safe to add to an existing save or remove.
- Text is in English. The Push and Pull button tooltips also have German and Spanish; the Gears menu is English only.
Requirements
- Contains a DLL, so EasyAntiCheat (EAC) must be off.
- Gears is optional. Without it, PushPullConfig.xml is used for every setting.
- Install on the server and every player's game, all on the same version. The server performs every move; on a dedicated server the mod skips its UI patches and logs one line saying so, which is expected.
- The mod uses its own network messages, so the server and every player need the same version. Update them all at the same time; a player with a different copy can't connect.
- Unzip into your Mods folder and keep the folder name ZZ-AMG5TAG-JAGO-PushPull exactly as it is: the ZZ- prefix sets the load order.
- Works on its own. Every JAGO mod is independent, so you can install just this one.
- For strayquest to work for all players on a dedicated server, give the command permission level 1000.
Installation
Step 1: Install JAGO - Push Pull on the server and on every player's game, all on the same version. In single player, install it on your own game.
Step 2: Download the zip and unzip it into the game's Mods folder, so you end up with Mods/ZZ-AMG5TAG-JAGO-PushPull/ModInfo.xml. For the game that is the Mods folder in the install folder (in Steam: right-click 7 Days to Die > Manage > Browse local files; create Mods if it isn't there). For a dedicated server it is the Mods folder next to the server executable.
Step 3: Keep the folder name ZZ-AMG5TAG-JAGO-PushPull exactly as it is: the ZZ- prefix sets the load order. Don't put it inside another folder.
Step 4: This mod contains a DLL, so EasyAntiCheat must be off: start the game without EAC (untick EasyAntiCheat in the launcher), and on a dedicated server set EACEnabled to false in serverconfig.xml.
Step 5: Optional: install Gears (Mod Settings Manager) to change the settings in game. Without it the defaults are used.
Step 6: Without Gears, change the settings in PushPullConfig.xml in the mod folder.
Step 7: On a dedicated server, give the strayquest command permission level 1000 ("cp add strayquest 1000") so every player can use it.
Step 8: Start (or restart) the server and the game. To update, delete the old folder and unzip the new version the same way on the server and every player's game at the same time.
Changelog
JAGO - Push Pull: changelog
===========================
1.0.1 (29 Oct 2026)
- The Push, Pull and Dump buttons were missing from the backpack on game 3.4, which moved the backpack's own buttons to a new row. They are back, in the backpack's title bar: Push and Pull to the right of the title, Dump just left of your coin count. They still hide while a container is open. The hotkeys worked throughout. Needs game 3.4.
1.0.0 (27 Oct 2026)
- First public release.
Development history
-------------------
Before its public release this mod was developed and run privately, with its own version numbers (the last was 2.10.0). Those notes are kept below for reference; none of those versions were released to the public.
2.10.0 (26 Oct 2026)
- Push, Pull, Dump and crafting from storage now leave out chests, vehicles and drones that another player has open. The server tells every player which storage is in use, so a craft no longer counts materials it can't actually take (before, the shortfall was charged to your backpack instead).
- Storage the server had to skip during a craft is also left out for 30 seconds, which covers the moment before the in-use list arrives.
- "rpp scan" now shows "another player has it open" for storage that is in use.
- Fix: incoming network messages are now size-checked.
- IMPORTANT: 2.10.0 adds a new network message. Update the server and every player to 2.10.0 at the same time; a player with an older copy can't connect to a 2.10.0 server.
2.9.10 (26 Oct 2026)
- Fix: the "Reload from containers" setting added in 2.9.7 never took effect on players' games. Weapons now really do reload only from your backpack and toolbelt unless you turn it on.
- Fix: quest items sitting in nearby storage no longer count for crafting or fetch quests. Supplies in a chest could complete a fetch objective, and handing it in took another player's supplies.
- Fix: pulling one jar of water from a dew collector also emptied the water from every nearby chest into your backpack.
- Fix: the Push, Pull and Dump buttons could be added twice when another mod also adds to the backpack header, leaving dead buttons near storage.
- Fix: Dump no longer puts items into locked slots of a Dump box.
- Fix: when storage came up short during a craft, items on your toolbelt were never charged, so part of the craft could be free. The toolbelt is now charged after the backpack.
- Fix: the dedicated forge list is saved in one step, so a crash during a save can't wipe it.
2.9.9 (25 Oct 2026)
- Fix: Push stopped filling forges at the vanilla stack size. It now uses the raised stack size from a stack mod such as JAGO - Stacks, so forge input slots keep filling past the vanilla limit (up to 65,000 with Stacks' default).
2.9.8 (18 Oct 2026)
- Claim stray supplies for your fetch quest: supplies left over from a quest that has ended don't count for a new one. Now, if your current fetch quest has none of its item yet, a stray stack of the same quest item in your backpack or toolbelt (White River supplies, for example) is switched over to your quest so it counts. Supplies that belong to another quest in your journal are never taken over.
2.9.7 (18 Oct 2026)
- Weapons no longer reload from nearby containers: reloading, the ammo count and switching ammo type use only what is in your backpack and toolbelt. Crafting and refuelling still use storage as before.
- New setting ReloadFromContainers (PushPullConfig.xml, and Gears under Crafting), default Off. Turn it on to get the old behaviour back.
2.9.6 (18 Oct 2026)
- New console command "strayquest" (short form "sq"), typed in your own F1 console. It lists every quest item in your backpack and toolbelt and whether it is stray (its quest isn't in your journal). "strayquest remove" deletes the stray ones. Only stray items can be removed, so it is safe for everyone: server admins can give it permission level 1000 so that all players can use it.
2.9.5 (17 Oct 2026)
- Push and Dump now fill boxes that already hold an item before using sorting labels: existing stacks are topped up first, then empty slots in those same boxes. A label no longer pulls items away from the box they are already kept in.
2.9.4 (17 Oct 2026)
- Fix: stray quest items can now also be dropped by dragging them out of the inventory window.
2.9.3 (17 Oct 2026)
- Fix: a stray quest item's slot is no longer quest-locked, so the item can be selected and dropped. Your own quest items stay locked as before.
2.9.2 (17 Oct 2026)
- Stray quest items can be dropped. A quest item whose quest isn't in your journal (not yours, and not shared with you) can now be dropped from the inventory menu or with the drop key, so its owner can pick it back up. This sorts out supplies that ended up with the wrong player before 2.9.1.
2.9.1 (16 Oct 2026)
- Fix: Push and Dump no longer move quest items (such as fetch-quest supplies) into storage. They stay with the player whose quest they belong to.
