JAGO - Reusable Switches
A 7 Days to Die mod by AMG5TAG. Version 1.0.0 for game version 3.4; installs on the server and client. Category: Gameplay.
POI switches, valves and key racks work every time instead of once, with a short per-switch cooldown, and you can switch lights on and off and edit them with the light editor in survival.
Description
Ever pulled a valve or grabbed a key rack in a POI, and then it never works again? Reusable Switches removes that one-shot lock so POI trigger switches work as often as you like. A short per-switch cooldown stops anyone spamming the trigger.
The mod also adds light control in survival. Look at almost any light to switch it on or off, or open the game's built-in light editor to change its colour, range, intensity and flicker. Normally the editor only works in editor mode. Edits to a POI's own designed lights are not saved on the server, so a POI reset still brings back the original lighting.
Features
- Reusable switches: the Metal and Wood Key Racks and the four Black Valve / Black Wall Valve switches are no longer single-use. Colour variants follow.
- The powered Switch keeps its normal on/off behaviour; only its one-shot lock is removed.
- Reuse cooldown: 1 second per switch. Activating the same switch again within the cooldown is ignored.
- Light toggle in survival: switch almost any light block on or off, not only the ones vanilla flags as switchable.
- Light editor in survival: change a light's type, shadows, range, intensity, colour, spot angle, flicker or blink and rate.
- POI-safe light edits: edits to a POI's designed lights are seen by players but not saved by the server, so a POI reset restores the original lighting. Edits to lights you placed yourself save normally.
- The editor's world-editor "trigger" command stays disabled in survival.
Settings
- ReuseCooldown: seconds, per block. Default 1.0; 0 turns the cooldown off for that block. Set in Config/blocks.xml. There are no Gears settings.
Compatibility
- The switch changes match blocks by their single-use settings, so switch blocks from other mods that use them become reusable too.
- Without the DLL, switches are still reusable from the XML alone, but there's no cooldown or light control.
- The cooldown is kept in memory and resets when the server restarts.
- Adds no new player-facing text, so there's no translation file.
Credits
Light editor code is based on LightEditor by ISITongue.
Requirements
- Harmony DLL mod: EasyAntiCheat must be OFF. Uses the game's bundled Harmony (0TFPHarmony); don't add another copy.
- Gears is not used.
- Install on the server and on every client.
- Unzip into your Mods folder and keep the folder name Z-AMG5TAG-JAGO-ReusableSwitches as it is: the Z- prefix sets the load order.
- Works standalone. Each JAGO mod is independent.
Installation
Step 1: Install JAGO - Reusable Switches on the server and on every player's game, all on the same version. In single player, install it on your own game.
Step 2: Download the zip and unzip it into the game's Mods folder, so you end up with Mods/Z-AMG5TAG-JAGO-ReusableSwitches/ModInfo.xml. For the game that is the Mods folder in the install folder (in Steam: right-click 7 Days to Die > Manage > Browse local files; create Mods if it isn't there). For a dedicated server it is the Mods folder next to the server executable.
Step 3: Keep the folder name Z-AMG5TAG-JAGO-ReusableSwitches exactly as it is: the Z- prefix sets the load order. Don't put it inside another folder.
Step 4: This mod contains a DLL, so EasyAntiCheat must be off: start the game without EAC (untick EasyAntiCheat in the launcher), and on a dedicated server set EACEnabled to false in serverconfig.xml.
Step 5: Start (or restart) the server and the game. To update, delete the old folder and unzip the new version the same way on the server and every player's game at the same time.
