JAGO - Stacks
A 7 Days to Die mod by AMG5TAG. Version 1.0.0 for game version 3.4; installs on the server and client. Category: Utilities.
Stack nearly everything to 65,000 (or 1,000, 5,000, 10,000 or vanilla), including modded items, plus fixes for several vanilla bugs and a join-time warning when a player's JAGO mods don't match the server.
Description
Inventory management is a big part of 7 Days to Die, and JAGO - Stacks makes it much easier. Almost everything that stacks in vanilla now stacks to 65,000 by default. That includes items and blocks added by other mods, because the mod changes the game's stack-size lookup instead of editing items one by one.
You choose the cap in Gears: 1,000, 5,000, 10,000, 65,000, or Vanilla to switch the change off. Items with quality, like tools, weapons and armour, are never touched. A few awkward one-per-slot workstation parts and tools are allowed to stack as well.
It also fixes several vanilla bugs that we kept running into on a live multiplayer server, and warns players when their JAGO mods don't match the server's, so a missed update is easy to spot.
Features
- Bigger stacks: every item and block whose vanilla stack is above 1 stacks to the chosen value (default 65,000), vanilla and modded alike.
- Also made stackable: Engine, Advanced Bellows, Anvil, Crucible, Wire Tool and Paint Brush. Crafting with them uses one at a time.
- Quality items are never changed: tools, weapons and armour keep their vanilla stack size.
- Fix: phantom bonus-stat stars (vanilla v3.3 bug). Ordinary items such as coal could pick up a boosted tool's bonus stats (the orange star) and spread them every time the stack was split. The mod clears the stale stats and hidden values when an item is read into a slot, and cleans items already affected in your save the next time they load.
- Fix: disconnects when switching held items (vanilla bug). Players could be dropped if their held item changed just as the server was sending it to others. The server now sends a copy.
- Fix: duplicated or lost items after upgrading a box (vanilla bug). If a storage box is upgraded or downgraded while someone has it open, their window is now closed, so they can't take items from or add items to the old, discarded box.
- JAGO version check: when a player joins, the server sends the versions of the AMG5TAG mods it runs. A player whose copies differ or are missing gets a chat line and an on-screen message telling them which mods to update and to restart their game. It only warns, and the result is also written to the log.
Settings
- Maximum Stack Size (Gears > World > Stack Size): Vanilla, 1000, 5000, 10000 or 65000. Default 65000. Applies when the world loads. Vanilla turns the stack change off; the bug fixes and version check stay active.
Compatibility
- The chosen value is an exact cap, not a minimum. A lower setting such as 1,000 also reduces vanilla stacks that are bigger than that (vanilla has items stacking to 6,000, 10,000, 20,000 and 30,000).
- Overrides stack sizes set by any other stack-size mod, because it changes the stack size after the XML has loaded.
- No XML patches: the Config folder only holds text.
- Settings text in English, German and Spanish. The version-check message is English only.
Requirements
- Contains a DLL, so EasyAntiCheat (EAC) must be off.
- Requires Gears (the mod reads its setting through Gears).
- Install on the server and every player's game, on the same version. Stack sizes are worked out on each machine, and the version check needs both sides.
- The mod uses its own network message, so the server and every player need the same version. Update them all at the same time; a player with a different copy can't connect.
- Unzip into your Mods folder and keep the folder name ZZ-AMG5TAG-JAGO-Stacks exactly as it is: the ZZ- prefix sets the load order.
- Works on its own. Every JAGO mod is independent, so you can install just this one. The version check covers whichever AMG5TAG mods you do run.
Installation
Step 1: Install JAGO - Stacks on the server and on every player's game, all on the same version. In single player, install it on your own game.
Step 2: Download the zip and unzip it into the game's Mods folder, so you end up with Mods/ZZ-AMG5TAG-JAGO-Stacks/ModInfo.xml. For the game that is the Mods folder in the install folder (in Steam: right-click 7 Days to Die > Manage > Browse local files; create Mods if it isn't there). For a dedicated server it is the Mods folder next to the server executable.
Step 3: Keep the folder name ZZ-AMG5TAG-JAGO-Stacks exactly as it is: the ZZ- prefix sets the load order. Don't put it inside another folder.
Step 4: This mod contains a DLL, so EasyAntiCheat must be off: start the game without EAC (untick EasyAntiCheat in the launcher), and on a dedicated server set EACEnabled to false in serverconfig.xml.
Step 5: Install Gears (Mod Settings Manager) as well, on the server and every player's game. This mod doesn't work without it.
Step 6: Start (or restart) the server and the game. To update, delete the old folder and unzip the new version the same way on the server and every player's game at the same time.
Changelog
JAGO - Stacks: changelog
========================
1.0.0 (27 Oct 2026)
- First public release.
Development history
-------------------
Before its public release this mod was developed and run privately, with its own version numbers (the last was 3.6). Those notes are kept below for reference; none of those versions were released to the public.
3.6 (26 Oct 2026)
- JAGO version check: when a player joins, the server sends the names and versions of the AMG5TAG mods it runs. If any of the player's copies differ or are missing, they get a chat line and an on-screen message such as "JAGO-PushPull yours 2.9.9, server 2.10.0", telling them to restart their game. The result is also written to the log. It only warns; it doesn't block anyone.
- IMPORTANT: 3.6 adds a new network message. Update the server and every player to 3.6 at the same time; a player whose Stacks is older than 3.6 can't connect to a 3.6 server.
3.5 (26 Oct 2026)
- Fix: crafting with a stack of the items this mod makes stackable (engines, bellows, anvils, crucibles, wire tools, paint brushes) used up the whole stack instead of one.
- Fix: an item moved into a container slot could keep hidden values from the item that was in that slot before. This also stops the "Can not update Metadata value" warning that could fill the log hundreds of times a session.
3.4 (17 Oct 2026)
- Fix (vanilla bug): when a storage box was upgraded or downgraded while someone had it open, their window stayed attached to the old box, so items taken out were duplicated and items put in were lost. Their window is now closed when the box changes, and they reopen it to see the real contents. Runs on the server.
3.3 (17 Oct 2026)
- Fix (vanilla bug): players could be disconnected when the item they were holding changed just as the server was sending it to other players (swapping items, swinging, charging a stun baton). Players on slower connections were hit most. The server now sends a copy of the held item. Runs on the server.
