JAGO - Trade
A 7 Days to Die mod by AMG5TAG. Version 1.0.0 for game version 3.4; installs on the server and client. Category: Utilities.
Safe face-to-face trading between players: a two-sided trade window that both players accept, with the server holding the items until the trade completes or is cancelled.
Description
JAGO - Trade lets two players swap items safely, face to face. Look at another player and press E, then choose Trade. When they do the same to you, a trade window opens beside both backpacks.
Drag or shift-click items into your offer and watch theirs fill in below. When you're both happy, both press Accept. If either offer changes, both ticks clear, so nobody can swap an item after you've agreed.
The server holds the offered items while the trade is open. Cancel, walk away, die, disconnect or crash, and every item goes back to its owner.
Features
- Trade on the E wheel: look at another living player within reach (about 3.5 m) to see "Press E to Trade with <name>". Choosing Trade sends a request, and the other player sees "<name> wants to trade". The window opens when they choose Trade on you within 30 seconds. Nobody gets a window forced on them.
- Trade window (left of the backpack): Your Offer (20 slots) above Their Offer (20 slots, view only), each side's accept status, and Accept / Change Offer and Cancel buttons.
- Drag, split, right-click drop and inspect work as in a chest. Shift-click from the backpack or toolbelt puts a stack in your offer; shift-click in your offer sends it back.
- Offer All moves everything in your unlocked backpack slots into your offer. Lock the slots you want to keep; the toolbelt is left alone. Take All Back returns your whole offer to your backpack.
- Dukes are an item, so you can pay or charge for things.
- Anti-scam rules on the server: any change to either offer clears both Accept ticks, and an Accept only counts against the latest version of both offers. Your offer is locked while you have accepted; press Change Offer to edit it again.
- Safe item handling: the server holds each offer until the trade ends. Completed: each player gets the other's offer. Cancelled for any reason (Cancel, Escape, walking too far apart, either player dying or leaving): each player gets their own offer back.
- Items that don't fit in your backpack drop at your feet and stay there for 5 minutes.
- A player who is offline when the trade ends, whose game crashed, or who wasn't online when the server stopped gets the items the next time they spawn. They are kept in the save folder in JAGO-Trade-Escrow.txt, which is saved safely so a crash can't wipe it.
- Every completed trade is written to the server log with both players' names and items.
Settings
In Gears under World > JAGO - Trade. Without Gears 3.1.0 or later the defaults are used.
- Player Trading: Default On. Off removes the Trade option. Needs a restart.
- Trade Walk-Away Distance: a trade cancels if the players are further apart than this. Default 10 m, range 3 to 50.
Compatibility
- A player without the mod can't trade, and a mismatched version can't connect to the trade system.
- Don't delete JAGO-Trade-Escrow.txt while it lists items: that deletes them. It is empty or absent when no trade is open or owed.
- Pressing E while looking at another player at close range now opens a wheel with Trade on it.
- English text only.
Requirements
- Contains a DLL, so EasyAntiCheat (EAC) must be off.
- Gears 3.1.0 or later is optional, for the settings above.
- Install on the server and every player's game, all on the same version. The server holds the items and runs every trade; the window runs on each player's game.
- Unzip into your Mods folder and keep the folder name ZZ-AMG5TAG-JAGO-Trade exactly as it is: the ZZ- prefix sets the load order.
- Works on its own. Every JAGO mod is independent, so you can install just this one.
Installation
Step 1: Install JAGO - Trade on the server and on every player's game, all on the same version. In single player, install it on your own game.
Step 2: Download the zip and unzip it into the game's Mods folder, so you end up with Mods/ZZ-AMG5TAG-JAGO-Trade/ModInfo.xml. For the game that is the Mods folder in the install folder (in Steam: right-click 7 Days to Die > Manage > Browse local files; create Mods if it isn't there). For a dedicated server it is the Mods folder next to the server executable.
Step 3: Keep the folder name ZZ-AMG5TAG-JAGO-Trade exactly as it is: the ZZ- prefix sets the load order. Don't put it inside another folder.
Step 4: This mod contains a DLL, so EasyAntiCheat must be off: start the game without EAC (untick EasyAntiCheat in the launcher), and on a dedicated server set EACEnabled to false in serverconfig.xml.
Step 5: Optional: install Gears (Mod Settings Manager) to change the settings in game. Without it the defaults are used.
Step 6: Don't delete JAGO-Trade-Escrow.txt in the save folder while it lists items: it holds items from unfinished trades.
Step 7: Start (or restart) the server and the game. To update, delete the old folder and unzip the new version the same way on the server and every player's game at the same time.
Changelog
JAGO - Trade: changelog
=======================
1.0.0 (27 Oct 2026)
- First public release.
Development history
-------------------
Before its public release this mod was developed and run privately, with its own version numbers (the last was 1.1.1). Those notes are kept below for reference; none of those versions were released to the public.
1.1.1 (26 Oct 2026)
- Fix: one unreadable line in the server's held-items file (JAGO-Trade-Escrow.txt) stopped the rest of the file loading, and the next save then dropped everything after it. Unreadable lines are now skipped and kept as they are.
- Fix: the held-items file is now saved in one step, with the previous copy kept as a .bak. If a save is interrupted, the next start reads the leftover copy instead of losing the held items.
- Fix: items delivered before your character had finished loading in could be lost. They now stay held and arrive the next time you spawn.
- Items that don't fit in your inventory and drop at your feet now stay on the ground for 5 minutes (as long as a death drop) instead of 1.
