JAGO - Air Drops
A 7 Days to Die mod by AMG5TAG. Version 1.0.0 for game version 3.4; installs on the server and client. Category: Gameplay.
Opening an air drop sets off a car alarm and calls in a zombie horde that gets tougher (feral, radiated, charged, infernal) as your gamestage rises. Optional Gears settings for horde size and alarm length.
Description
In vanilla, an air drop is a free gift: walk over, open it, walk away with the loot. JAGO - Air Drops makes you earn it. The first time a supply crate is opened, a car alarm starts blaring and a pack of zombies spawns nearby and comes straight for you.
Air drops turn into a small fight. Do you open the crate straight away, or clear the area and build some cover first? You hear the siren, you see the warning on your toolbelt, and within seconds you have company 15 to 30 metres out. The horde grows tougher as your gamestage rises.
It's a small, focused mod with nothing to learn and no new items. If Gears is installed, the host can set the horde size and how long the alarm runs.
Features
- Alarm and horde: the first time anyone opens an air drop supply crate, that player gets the Air Drop Alarm buff (speaker icon), which sets off three things at once:
- a looping car alarm, 10 seconds by default
- a horde of 8 zombies by default, 15 to 30 m from the player, aggressive and targeting them as soon as they spawn
- a toolbelt warning: "You breached the air drop! An alarm is blaring - fight off the horde!"
- Once per crate: only the first opening counts. Opening the crate again, or other players opening it, doesn't call in more hordes, and this is saved with the crate, so a restart doesn't re-arm it.
- The horde scales with gamestage, in 7 tiers picked from the opener's party gamestage:
- GS 0 to 39: an early mix of ordinary zombies, with the occasional feral
- GS 40: tougher regulars, about 1 feral in 5
- GS 80: mostly ferals, rare radiated
- GS 130: ferals with about 1 radiated in 6, rare charged
- GS 200: ferals and radiated about evenly, some charged, rare infernal
- GS 300: mostly radiated, with charged and infernal
- GS 450 and up: radiated, charged and infernal only
- Screamers and demolishers never appear. Only the zombie type scales; the head count is the Horde Size setting.
Settings
In Gears under World > Air Drop. Needs Gears 3.1.0 or later; without it the defaults are fixed.
- Air Drop Horde Size: how many zombies spawn. Default 8, range 2 to 24 in steps of 2.
- Air Drop Alarm Duration: how many seconds the alarm sounds. Default 10, range 3 to 30.
Compatibility
- Nothing in vanilla is overwritten. The mod only adds its own buff, game events, spawner and zombie groups, all with vh-prefixed names, so clashes with other mods are unlikely.
- Keep the mod's files together: without its spawner and zombie groups the horde silently fails to spawn (the alarm and warning still fire).
- The game caps game-event spawns at 25 live zombies. A horde that would push live game-event zombies past 25 spawns nothing, which is why Horde Size stops at 24.
- Text in English, German and Spanish.
Requirements
- Contains a DLL, so EasyAntiCheat (EAC) must be off.
- Gears 3.1.0 or later is optional, for the settings above.
- Install on the server and every player's game. The trigger runs on the server (or the host); players need the mod's buff and text.
- Unzip into your Mods folder and keep the folder name Z-AMG5TAG-JAGO-AirDrops exactly as it is: the Z- prefix sets the load order.
- Works on its own. Every JAGO mod is independent, so you can install just this one.
Installation
Step 1: Install JAGO - Air Drops on the server and on every player's game, all on the same version. In single player, install it on your own game.
Step 2: Download the zip and unzip it into the game's Mods folder, so you end up with Mods/Z-AMG5TAG-JAGO-AirDrops/ModInfo.xml. For the game that is the Mods folder in the install folder (in Steam: right-click 7 Days to Die > Manage > Browse local files; create Mods if it isn't there). For a dedicated server it is the Mods folder next to the server executable.
Step 3: Keep the folder name Z-AMG5TAG-JAGO-AirDrops exactly as it is: the Z- prefix sets the load order. Don't put it inside another folder.
Step 4: This mod contains a DLL, so EasyAntiCheat must be off: start the game without EAC (untick EasyAntiCheat in the launcher), and on a dedicated server set EACEnabled to false in serverconfig.xml.
Step 5: Optional: install Gears (Mod Settings Manager) to change the settings in game. Without it the defaults are used.
Step 6: Start (or restart) the server and the game. To update, delete the old folder and unzip the new version the same way on the server and every player's game at the same time.
