JAGO - Challenges
A 7 Days to Die mod by AMG5TAG. Version 1.0.0 for game version 3.4; installs on the server and client. Category: Gameplay.
Long-term challenges after the Basics tutorial: Slayer kill challenges for every vanilla zombie family, Ranged and Melee Mastery, a Survivor's Life tab of non-combat goals, and optional Made in Oz and Double G Zombies tabs.
Description
Once you've finished the vanilla Basics challenges, the Challenges screen goes quiet. JAGO - Challenges gives it long-term goals. A Slayer tab tracks your kills of every vanilla zombie family, with two Weapon Mastery groups that count kills by the weapon you used. A second tab, Survivor's Life, rewards the rest of the game: farming, cooking, building, scavenging, exploring, surviving blood moons and trader jobs.
Each family challenge asks for 50 kills, and Feral, Radiated, Charged and Infernal variants all count, so the challenges move along through normal play without grinding one rare spawn. Completing a challenge pays XP plus a themed reward pack, and finishing a whole group pays a bigger bonus.
If you run JAGO - Farming or JAGO - Crafting, a Made in Oz tab adds matching groups. If you run Double G Zombies 3 or DGZ Classics ReImagined, Slayer tabs for their zombies appear automatically. Without those mods, nothing extra is added.
Features
- JAGO - Challenges tab (hidden until the vanilla Basics group is done) with 52 challenges in 6 groups: The Neighbourhood, Working Stiffs, Heavy Hitters and Nightmare Fuel (10 zombie families each, 50 kills per family), plus Ranged Mastery and Melee Mastery.
- Ranged Mastery: Handgun 500 kills, Rifle 500, Crossbow 250, Thrown 100, Explosives 250 and any ranged weapon 1,000.
- Melee Mastery: Brawler (knuckles) 250, Axe 250, Chainsaw 100 and any melee weapon 1,000.
- Slayer rewards: 10,000 XP per family challenge plus a rotating pack (regular ammo, AP ammo, armour-mod schematics or explosives). Mastery challenges pay 15,000-40,000 XP plus ammo, materials or schematics, and group bonuses pay 25,000-75,000 XP plus AP ammo and Forged Steel.
- Survivor's Life tab (hidden until Basics is done), 5 non-combat groups:
- Homesteader: harvest crops, cook classic meals, craft cobblestones and concrete, and upgrade blocks.
- Scavenger: search up to 3,000 containers (first opening only), scrap items and salvage parts.
- Explorer: visit all five biomes, then search containers in the four tougher ones.
- Survivor: survive 15, 25 and 40 blood moons, reach a 42-hour longest life and treat bleeding, infections and broken legs.
- Contractor: complete trader jobs of every type, up to 150 in total.
- Made in Oz tab (only with JAGO - Farming or JAGO - Crafting): Aussie Kitchen, Bush Tucker and Native Garden groups with JAGO - Farming (48 dishes and drinks to cook, native crops and witchetty grubs to grow), and a Research and Recycling group with JAGO - Crafting (Research Bench books, magazines and schematics, and ammo recycling).
- Survivor's Life and Made in Oz challenges pay 2,500-25,000 XP plus a small item reward, and each group's completion challenge lists its full bonus.
- Double G Zombies 3 bridge: a DoubleG Zombies 3 Slayer tab with 25 family challenges in 3 groups, only when that mod is installed.
- DGZ Classics ReImagined bridge: a DoubleG Classics Slayer tab with 5 family challenges, only when that mod is installed.
- All rewards are delivered the same way as vanilla challenge-group rewards.
Compatibility
- Purely additive: no vanilla challenge, quest or game event is changed. Kill tracking for the mastery groups is added to an always-on vanilla status buff.
- Mastery and Slayer progress only counts kills made after the mod is installed, and only of zombies.
- Kill objectives name each zombie explicitly, so zombies added by other mods (apart from the two Double G packs) don't count.
- Blood moons count only if you're online at their start and at dawn. The longest-life challenge reads your existing longest life, so a long-lived character may complete it straight away.
- Translations: English, German and Spanish for the Slayer tabs. The Survivor's Life and Made in Oz text is English only.
Requirements
- XML only, no DLL, so it works with EasyAntiCheat on.
- No Gears settings and no other mods needed.
- Install on the server and on every player's game: it adds a Challenges tab and its text.
- Unzip into your Mods folder and keep the folder name exactly as shipped (ZZ-AMG5TAG-JAGO-Challenges). The ZZ- prefix makes it load late. The optional tabs are applied correctly whatever the load order.
- Works on its own. Every JAGO mod is independent, so install as many or as few as you like.
Installation
Step 1: Install JAGO - Challenges on the server and on every player's game, all on the same version. In single player, install it on your own game.
Step 2: Download the zip and unzip it into the game's Mods folder, so you end up with Mods/ZZ-AMG5TAG-JAGO-Challenges/ModInfo.xml. For the game that is the Mods folder in the install folder (in Steam: right-click 7 Days to Die > Manage > Browse local files; create Mods if it isn't there). For a dedicated server it is the Mods folder next to the server executable.
Step 3: Keep the folder name ZZ-AMG5TAG-JAGO-Challenges exactly as it is: the ZZ- prefix sets the load order. Don't put it inside another folder.
Step 4: XML only, no DLL: it works with EasyAntiCheat on.
Step 5: Start (or restart) the server and the game. To update, delete the old folder and unzip the new version the same way on the server and every player's game at the same time.
