Biomes Overview

Biomes are the distinct environmental regions that make up the world of 7 Days to Die. Each biome has its own look, climate, resources, loot quality, and danger level, so understanding them helps you plan where to settle, scavenge, and explore.

The Main Biomes

The game world is divided into several recognizable regions, generally increasing in difficulty:

Why Biomes Matter

Each region shifts the balance of risk and reward in several ways.

Difficulty and Loot

Harsher biomes spawn more dangerous zombies and larger groups, but they also tend to offer higher-tier loot and rarer resources. The wasteland is the clearest example, rewarding well-equipped survivors while punishing the unprepared.

Temperature and Survival

Climate directly affects your character. Deserts can cause overheating while snow biomes bring dangerous cold, and both require appropriate clothing, food, and drink to counteract. Managing body temperature is an ongoing survival concern in extreme biomes.

Resources

Certain materials are tied to specific regions. Deserts are strong sources of sand and oil shale, forests provide abundant wood, and snow regions offer their own gathering opportunities. Traveling between biomes lets you collect what your home region lacks.
