Health and Stamina
Health and Stamina are your two most important survival attributes in 7 Days to Die. Health represents how much damage you can take before dying, while Stamina governs how much physical activity you can perform before needing to rest.
Health
Your Health pool determines your survival in combat and against environmental hazards. When it reaches zero, you die and respawn, potentially losing progress or items depending on your settings. Health can be reduced by:
- Zombie and animal attacks.
- Falling from height.
- Environmental damage such as traps, fire, or extreme cold.
- Illnesses and infections if left untreated.
Health regenerates slowly over time when your food and water levels are high enough. You can restore it faster with medical items like bandages, first aid kits, and certain foods. Note that many bandages stop bleeding and heal gradually rather than instantly.
Stamina
Stamina is consumed by strenuous actions such as sprinting, jumping, swinging melee weapons, chopping wood, and mining. When Stamina runs low, your actions become weaker and slower, and you cannot sprint, which is dangerous when a zombie is chasing you.
Stamina recovers when you stop exerting yourself, and recovery is faster when you are well fed and hydrated. Letting your fullness drop too low slows regeneration considerably.
Maximum Values and Buffs
Your maximum Health and Stamina can be influenced by several factors.
- Perks and attributes raise your caps and efficiency as you level them.
- Certain foods and drinks provide temporary boosts to maximum values or regeneration.
- Negative conditions like being sick, injured, or overencumbered reduce performance.
Practical Tips
Keep your food and water meters comfortably high so both stats regenerate reliably. Carry healing items into every fight, manage Stamina by not spamming attacks, and treat bleeding or infections promptly before they snowball into a life-threatening problem.
