Loot
Loot is the gear, resources, and treasure you gather from containers, zombies, and the environment in 7 Days to Die. Understanding how loot works is key to gearing up efficiently and surviving tougher challenges.
Where Loot Comes From
Loot is found throughout the world in a variety of sources, each with its own typical contents.
- Containers such as crates, cabinets, safes, and lockers inside Points of Interest.
- Dead zombies and animals, which drop bags with items and resources.
- Vehicles, trash piles, and environmental clutter that can be searched.
Points of Interest, especially their end loot rooms, hold the richest containers, while safes and specialized crates offer the best chances at rare gear.
Loot Stage
Loot quality is not random luck alone. It scales with your loot stage, a hidden value that determines the tier and rarity of items you can find.
- Loot stage rises with your character level and gamestage progress.
- Better gear, higher-quality tools, and rarer mods appear as loot stage climbs.
- Certain biomes, like the wasteland, add bonuses that boost loot stage while you are in them.
This means the same container can give a beginner scrap and give a veteran high-tier equipment.
Quality Tiers
Weapons, tools, and armor come in numbered quality tiers. Higher tiers have better stats and more mod slots, with the top tier being the most powerful non-crafted gear.
- Low tiers are common early and are eventually replaced.
- High tiers, including legendary-grade items, come from strong loot stages and dangerous areas.
Loot Respawn
Containers refill their loot over time, and trader quests reset entire POIs, letting you re-loot the same building. This makes repeatable quests a dependable source of supplies.
Tips
- Raise your level and take on higher biomes to improve loot stage.
- Prioritize safes and loot rooms for the best returns.
- Replay reset POIs to farm gear and materials consistently.
