Points of Interest
Points of Interest, commonly called POIs, are the explorable buildings and structures scattered across the world of 7 Days to Die. They range from small houses to sprawling skyscrapers and form the backbone of looting, questing, and combat exploration.
What Are POIs
A POI is any distinct structure placed in the world, from ruined homes and gas stations to hospitals, factories, and military bases. Each is hand-designed with its own layout, obstacles, and loot placement, giving exploration a crafted feel.
Loot Rooms
Most larger POIs are built around a reward at the end, usually a loot room containing one or more high-value containers.
- Loot rooms typically sit at the top, bottom, or deepest point of the building.
- They often hold the best containers, including safes and reinforced crates.
- The path to them is deliberately guarded with zombies and traps.
The quality of what you find scales with your loot stage, so higher-level, better-geared players pull better rewards from the same buildings.
Dungeon Design
Many POIs function like guided dungeons. The intended route winds through the structure, funneling you past sleeping zombies and environmental hazards toward the final reward.
- Sleeping zombie volumes wake as you trigger them, so expect ambushes.
- Traps, collapsing floors, and dead ends add tension.
- Following the designed path is safer, but experienced players sometimes break through walls to shortcut to the loot.
POIs and Traders
Traders assign fetch and clear quests tied to specific POIs. Accepting a quest resets the building, refills its loot and enemies, and marks it on your map, letting you replay the same structure for rewards.
Tips
- Clear rooms carefully and listen for sleeping zombies before advancing.
- Save some healing and ammo for the loot room fight.
- Repeat trader-flagged POIs to farm reliable experience and loot.
POIs turn the open world into a series of rewarding, replayable challenges at the heart of the survival loop.
