Traps
Traps are defensive structures placed around a base to damage, slow, or funnel zombies, especially during Blood Moon hordes. They range from simple passive spikes to powered electrical and automated devices that do the fighting for you.
Passive Traps
- Wood and Iron Spikes — The most accessible traps, dealing damage to any zombie walking over them. Iron spikes are more durable and hit harder than wood. Both degrade with use and must be repaired.
- Barbed Wire — Slows zombies passing through it while dealing light damage, making it useful for funneling enemies into kill zones.
Powered Traps
Powered traps require electricity from a generator, solar bank, or battery bank connected through wiring.
- Electric Fence Posts — Wire two posts together to create a stunning, damaging fence line that halts approaching zombies.
- Blade Trap — A spinning blade mounted on a wall or floor that chews through groups of enemies. Effective but power-hungry and wears down blades over time.
- Dart Trap — Fires projectiles at enemies in a line, good for corridors and choke points.
- Turrets (Auto/Shotgun) — Automated ranged defenses that target and fire on zombies within range, consuming ammunition and power.
Building Effective Trap Defenses
- Combine slowing traps (barbed wire, electric fence) with damaging traps (blades, spikes) so enemies take sustained damage while stuck.
- Design pathing so zombies are forced across your traps rather than around them; use block layouts and drop-downs to channel them.
- Powered traps need a reliable power source — plan generator fuel or solar capacity before your first big horde.
- Repair traps between hordes, as spikes and blades lose effectiveness as they degrade.
- Turrets and dart traps benefit from clear firing lines, so avoid placing obstructions in front of them.
Maintenance
Nearly all traps degrade with use and require repair materials such as wood, forged iron, or mechanical parts. Keep a stock of repair supplies and a repair tool handy, and inspect your defenses after every Blood Moon.
