Vehicles
Vehicles in 7 Days to Die let you cross the map quickly, haul loot, and escape danger. They progress from simple pedal-powered rides to fast motorized machines and even flight, forming a clear ladder of mobility upgrades.
Vehicle Types
Each vehicle offers more speed, storage, or utility than the last, and most can be crafted once you have the right parts and skills.
- Bicycle: the entry-level ride, pedal-powered and free of fuel, faster than walking but slow overall.
- Minibike: the first motorized option, quicker with modest storage, requiring fuel to run.
- Motorcycle: faster than the minibike and good for solo travel across open terrain.
- 4x4 Truck: a rugged multi-seat vehicle with large storage, ideal for hauling loot and carrying passengers.
- Gyrocopter: the flying vehicle, letting you soar over obstacles and dangerous terrain for the ultimate mobility.
Crafting and Parts
Most vehicles are assembled from parts you craft or loot, then combined into a complete vehicle. The Intellect-based vehicle crafting perk unlocks the recipes and improves what you can build.
- Gather or craft components such as engines, wheels, and chassis.
- Combine parts to produce the finished vehicle.
- Higher perk ranks unlock the more advanced vehicles in order.
Fuel and Maintenance
Motorized vehicles run on gasoline, which you craft from oil shale or scavenged resources. Keep a fuel supply on hand for long trips.
- Refuel at your vehicle's inventory screen.
- Vehicles can take damage and may need repairs with a wrench and repair kits.
Storage and Utility
Vehicles double as mobile storage, with larger ones carrying substantial loot. This makes them essential for looting runs where you gather more than you can carry.
Tips
- Build a bicycle early to save time, then upgrade as parts allow.
- Keep fuel and repair kits stocked before long expeditions.
- Use faster vehicles to outrun hordes and reach distant traders and POIs.
