Zombie Types
7 Days to Die features a varied roster of zombies, from slow shambling corpses to explosive juggernauts. Recognizing each type on sight lets you prioritize threats and choose the right weapon before they close in.
Common Walkers
The bulk of the undead are standard walkers based on former civilians, nurses, soldiers, bikers, and workers. Most shamble during the day and run at night. They are individually weak but overwhelming in numbers.
Feral and Radiated Variants
As your Gamestage climbs, tougher versions appear:
- Feral zombies glow with intense eyes, move faster, and hit harder than their base forms.
- Radiated zombies glow green, have the most health, can regenerate, and are the top-tier version of most zombie types.
Special Zombies
- Cop (Police): a bloated zombie that vomits a damaging acid ranged attack and explodes into a toxic cloud when killed.
- Demolisher: a heavily armored construction zombie with a chest-mounted button; striking the button detonates a powerful explosion that can level base defenses. Extremely dangerous during late-game Blood Moons.
- Screamer (Feral Wight variant): shrieks to summon additional zombies when it detects heat and noise from your base.
- Spider Zombie: agile, crawls, leaps, and climbs walls to reach elevated positions.
- Wight: a fast, tough late-stage humanoid with high damage.
Animal and Flying Threats
- Zombie Dogs: fast pack hunters that close distance quickly and are common in hordes.
- Vultures: flying zombies that swoop and peck, often attacking while you drive or during hordes.
- Zombie Bears and other infected wildlife appear in some biomes as high-health threats.
Practical Tips
- Kill Cops and Demolishers at range whenever possible to avoid their explosions.
- Suppress screamers fast to prevent runaway horde spawns.
- Watch above and behind for vultures and spider zombies during Blood Moon defense.
- Save your strongest ammo and weapons for radiated and demolisher variants.
